How to visualize your log
1. Plot visualization features
Plot visualization
Currently, Model-Prime supports xy-line plots, where the x-axis is time. When selecting your data to plot, there are four different configuration attributes that you can select:
- Channel type
- Channel name
- Data path
- Color
Once a plot has been generated, the following options are available for your chart:
- Sync video: synchronize timestamps between video playback and the plotted data
- Logarithmic scaling: display data where the y-axis increases by a constant factor to allow for visualization of large ranges of value
- Show occurrences: display events in the log
- Reset zoom: reset zoom to the default view
- Enter full screen: maximize the Log visualization section, from channel selection, tabular view, and charts, on your screen
Tabular view
Once the plot has been generated, you are able to toggle between viewing your data on a plot or viewing your data in a table format so that you can look at exact data output.
Note: Occasionally, there may be areas in your log that may have "dead zones", or areas where there is no affiliated messages at the corresponding timestamp. In those instances, please take a note of your x-axis, as the time is not labeled between dead zones.
2. How to build a plot
- To build your first plot, click "+ Add channel".
- Select your Channel Type and/or Channel Name before selecting your Data Path.
- Optionally, you can select the color for your plot. This would be useful if you have more than one plot you want to see visualized.
- Add an additional plot by selecting "+ Add another channel"
3. Additional features for your plot
Moving Guidelines
As you move within the chart, there are vertical and horizontal guidelines that move with your cursor.
Zooming capabilities
Within the chart, you can zoom in and out of the plot by scrolling the mouse wheel. Your plot will zoom in and out based on the location of your cursor.
Quick filter
By clicking and dragging within the chart, the plot will zoom into the selected area.
Data on hover
Hovering over a data point will display the exact timestamp and its data value.
Plot toggling
Instead of deleting the channel from your chart, you can toggle specific channels on and off by selecting or deselecting the channel from the legend towards the bottom of the chart.
Split view
By default, when you enable the "Sync video" toggle, split view will also be enabled, with the video on the left, and the plot or the tabular data on the right of the screen.
Click on the vertical ellipses next to the "Log visualization" header section to turn off split view.
4. How to share your plot
When you find meaningful data that you want to share with the rest of your team or organization, quickly share this information by right-clicking on the chart to either save the plot as it is displayed or to copy the image.
